On Saturday morning, August 27, 2011, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., the campus telephone system is scheduled for an update. During this period campus telephone service will be unavailable. Emergency and facility services have been notified and are preparing for this outage. We expect telephone service will be fully restored by or before 11:00 a.m., but testing can be expected to continue into the afternoon. If your department maintains its own telephone equipment connected to the campus telephone system, you may want to test it after 11:00 a.m. to assure your service remained unaffected.
The update is necessary as the telephone system is no longer supported by the manufacturer; the update will extend the system's useful life. Current telephone features, functions, and voice mail are expected to remain unchanged.
